Q:ok so when i turn my car on in the morning and got to stop at a stop sign my back left tire will skid and make a bad sound and my car will feel like it is sinking to the ground for a second. after i drive for a few miles the brakes then work fine. then today my brake pedal felt ver firm when i pushed it down, but my brakes didnt really work that good. i have a 95 chevy beretta and the ABS light is on all the time, the dealer said it was fine if it was on u just need a new sensor. he said sensors are expensive and u dont really need one. what should i do. o and today when the pedal was firm both the ABS and the regualr brake lights were on, according to the manuel this means my entire braking system is in danger. and finally today when the pedal was firm, i stopped at a gas station and turned my car off when i started it again the regualr brake light went off and only the ABS light was on, and the pedal was no longer firm, however the problem with the back tire began again help!!
Ok I have been doing brake repair foe a very long time. From what you are describing it sounds like you might have a wheel cylinder leaking fluid. This fluid leak will NOT be the reason the ABS light is on, but will cause the other symptoms you have listed. If in fact you find this is the case The shop will or should give you an estimate that will include the following parts. Wheel cylinders, they will want to replace them in pairs, one for each wheel. the brake shoes as they are soaked with fluid, this in combination with a probable warped brake drum will cause the lock up problem. They should measure the drums to make sure they can be machined. If the diameter of the drum is too large they really should be replaced. they will also want to replace the brake hardware, these are the springs that hold the brake shoes in place. The full REAR brake repair should cost around 400.00 maybe a little less. this would be for 2 drums 1 shoes 1 hardware 2 wheel cylinders and bleeding the brakes. The ABS problem is an electrical problem. wheel speed sensor is most likely but there are many things that can cause the light for the ABS to come on. when the ABS light comes on the ABS system only shuts off, At that point your braking system operates just like a car that does not have ABS and will NOT affect normal braking operation. I hope this helps. The leak your friiend has found is the majority of your problem. I wouls also have the front brakes checked to make sure everything is good up there. You will still have the ABS problem but at least your brakes will function. If your problem is a wheel speed sensor they cost about 100.00 in most cases.
Q:I just finish bleeding my brakes on my motorcycle. I gave it a test ride and seem to be in good working order however. My question is if there is any air that i missed; will it stay in the brake system and cause failure at a random time or will I know with in a short test ride if my brakes are really safe?
It will work with a tiny bit of air, but you really want to keep bleeding them untill all the air is gone 100%.
Q:Do they serve any purpose? Is it not safe if the rear wheels don‘t have brakes?
yes they do about 25% of the work and you should have brakes on all 4 tires you'll see an improvement!
Q:i have a 91 honda crx.i bled the brakes on it and i had no trouble with two wheels.the other two wheels when i crack the bleeder it hardly leaks any fluid if any at all.ive bled them numerous times and still same thing.the ones that wont bleed had pads that were still good.one front wheel and one rear on opposite sides wont bleed.help.please dont say bring to a professional.
Do you have disc or drums in the rear? First of all pull the bleeder screws out of the 2 that won't bleed and blow through them to make sure their not clogged with rust, dirt etc.clean if clogged if not next check to see if the wheel cylinder (If drums in the rear) is leaking. Pull back the rubber boot to see if fluid seeps out. Next try disconnecting the connection before the rubber brake hoses at each wheel and have someone press the brake pedal and if your getting a good flow then your brake hoses are breaking done internally (collapsed) and restricting the fluid pressure. If your pads are wearing unevenly check the slides to make sure they're free. If all of this doesn't work and you don't have access to a pressure bleeder, I'd say the two that don't bleed (calipers) need to be replaced. Usually this occurs because of neglecting to flush your brake fluid( brake fluid is hygroscopic and over time will absorb water, that's why old fluid will have a greenish, brownish tint, from moss/algae. Also snow(salt) and age will rust the piston inside the bore causing it to stick. Good luck and hope this helps.
Q:well i had my heater core disconnect due to smoke was coming through the vents raising my cooling hand up so then my friend did a bypass for now and sense he did that the temperature gage move from the middle to the top back and forth but its not overheating when i drive it whats the problem and also my reservoir jug states full to the top and also my i hear a squeaking sound when i drive but when i hit the brakes its stops.help me i don‘t no much about cars just a little lol
clutch and throttle. try pulling clutch and holding throttle at same time with same hand.
Q:My two front brakes keep locking up and the brakes peddle keep getting hard what might be the problem ?
The least expensive thing you can do is to make sure your brake calipers are well lubricated. Inspect them if you're not sure. A brake caliper with no lubrication tends to bind itself to the rotor because there is no free movement for it to retract due to the brake dust that has accumulated on the sliding caliper bolts and pins. Check your power brake booster check valve and all the vacuum lines leading to it. Hope this helps, jess.
Q:I‘m buying a Seadoo or a Yamaha PWC this Spring. I‘m leaning towards the Yamaha FX HO but the brake system on the Seadoos looks interesting. Is the brake system on the Seadoos really worth the $$$$.
never seen a brake on any thing that floats besides a rope
Q:I need to know how when you press the brake pedal( the input) how the car process it and stops the car(the output). Well i know the car uses hydraulic but i don‘t know how it does it? I also need to know how the handbrake work as well.
Here is the answer for your homework assignment. See the first link to read an article that explains exactly how brakes work in easy to understand format. The second link explains exactly how parking brakes work in easy to understand format. You should really read your text books instead because this is where your instructor will get his questions and answers for his tests.
Q:After replacing the front wheel brake cylinders and have attempted to bleed the front brakes, there is no brake pressure. If I bleed all four brakes will that fix it, or is there something else I need to do.It is a '72 Volkswagen Beetle
Be a good idea to adjust the brakes on all 4 wheels prior to bleeding. After bleeding the back if you still can't get pressure your master cylinder must be bad. Don't rebuild it ,buy a new or rebuilt. I've seen many a V.W. with decent brakes in warm weather but when it got cold the master cylinder wouldn't hold pressure. Jim
Q:help pls mechanical question?
They use the same braking system as other cars on the road. But the older cars like 1870 threw 1935 used a cable and rod drum system. That is why alot of hot rodder like my self change over to a newer system.
