FAQ

So my new farrier comes out tomorrow and charges $20 more for aluminum shoes and I was wondering why that is? Is one better than the other? My horse is a TB hunter jumper. Tell me what you think :)
Unless you have a specific reason for aluminum, the steel is better. It is more rigid, and supplies more support to the hoof wall. The aluminum bends if the horse steps on something, stressing the hoof wall. I used them for an OTTB who had weak, shelly hooves in front. He threw shoes like second graders throw spitballs... and when a steel shoe would come off, so would half his hoof wall. I switched to aluminum; the smaller nails stressed the hoof less, and the light weight put less stress on the nails. He still threw the shoes, but his hoof wall stayed intact - a great improvement. I evented and hunter paced this horse in these shoes. They wore pretty well, and I had them reset many times. I din't use the racing plates (even lighter and thinner), but got regular shoes made from aluminum. However, unless you have a similar hoof problem, I'd stick with steel. Edit: they're more expensive because aluminum costs more, and he can't buy them in bulk because fewer people use them. They're also harder to put on properly, because the aluminum nails bend really easily. They can be harder to shape, again because they bend easily and if you're used to bending steel, you have to develop the touch for it.
Yes, 101 aluminum sheets are resistant to corrosion due to the presence of a protective oxide layer on their surface, which helps prevent the metal from reacting with its environment.
The standard size of an aluminum sheet can vary depending on the specific application and industry. However, in general, aluminum sheets are commonly available in standard sizes of 4 feet by 8 feet or 48 inches by 96 inches. These dimensions are widely used in construction, manufacturing, and other industries due to their versatility and compatibility with standard equipment and processes. However, it's important to note that aluminum sheets can also be custom cut or ordered in different sizes to meet specific project requirements.
why does aluminum sheet not react with sulfuric acid nut react with hydrochloric acid?
aluminum reacts with hydrochloric acid, generating aluminium chloride which can dissolve in water. but aluminum reacts with sulfuric acid, generating aluminum sulfate which can't dissolve in water and will generate aluminum sulfate, a layer of protective film, preventing aluminum from reacting with sulfuric acid, so there is no significant phenomena.
There are several methods for polishing aluminum sheets, including mechanical polishing, chemical polishing, and electro-polishing. Mechanical polishing involves using abrasives, such as sandpaper or polishing compounds, to physically remove imperfections and create a smooth surface. Chemical polishing utilizes a mixture of acids and other chemicals to dissolve the surface layer of the aluminum, resulting in a polished finish. Electro-polishing involves using an electric current to remove surface material and create a smooth, shiny surface. Each method has its own advantages and may be chosen depending on the desired finish and the specific requirements of the aluminum sheet.
Maybe you didn't know but in the year 2025 the earth's population will be up to 12 billion people, which is double what we have now. And i am doing a project on Aluminum, and I have to know if there is enough AL for this many people in the year 2025. So will there be enough AL in the world to support us all?
Aluminium is the third most abundant element on earth after oxygen and silicon. I am quite sure that we will not run out of aluminium in the future. Oxygen - or at least pure good quality oxygen - is probably a more worrying scenario.
Transporting aluminum sheets requires special handling due to their lightweight nature and susceptibility to damage if mishandled. To prevent scratching, bending, or denting, it is necessary to take specific precautions. Packaging and securing the sheets in a manner that restricts movement and offers sufficient protection against impacts is crucial. Furthermore, it is important to transport aluminum sheets separately from heavy objects or materials to avoid potential damage caused by their weight. In conclusion, ensuring the safe transportation of aluminum sheets necessitates giving them special care and attention.
Yes, aluminum sheets are suitable for food packaging. Aluminum is a lightweight, non-toxic, and corrosion-resistant material that provides an effective barrier against moisture, oxygen, and light. It helps preserve the quality, taste, and freshness of food products, making it a popular choice for packaging perishable items. Additionally, aluminum is recyclable, making it an environmentally-friendly option for food packaging.
