Q:Hi, I`m planning a bathroom remodel soon, and I want to use the same floor tiles as before - they are beautiful! But I just can`t find them anywhere (we bought this house recently and the previous owner did the remodel, and we can`t get hold of him any more). If anyone recognizes them, I`d be really grateful if you could point me in the direction of where to find them. Thank you SO much!Further info: the tiles are a fraction under 4 square and are a kind of gray-based quartz or granite (not sure of the difference, sorry!) with flecks of aquamarine and blue that give it an overall pale blue hue. They sit between plain white tiles with the corners shaped to accept the smaller blue squares.I`ve looked in Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon and online but so far no luck :( !
You will have to contact a company and request a catalog of their tiles that they manufacture. After a run of tiles are made the next run will not be the exact same to match. It's very possible that no manufacturing tile company is still making the tile. With the wear and glaze that the tile has it would be impossible to get a match. I suggest that you shop for tiles that will enhance and blend with what you have and you may even use hard wood and tile aquamarine color that will pull the color hue from your present tile. The hardwood and tiles are beautiful. Hope this helps. Interior Decorator. Jo Ann
Q:How can you cover ugly wall tiles??
you can get proper tile paint or if your really handy you can get some transfers to stick on
Q:Real tile or those that u just glue on?? why?
There are some nice vinyl self-adhesive tiles out there, and for about a dollar a square foot, it's hard to go wrong. Just do good prep work to make sure it's beautiful and long-lasting. Ceramic tile takes a lot of work. Additionally, you may need backer board for either type of floorcovering if there are any imperfections in your existing subfloor, and the combined thickness of the board, mud, and ceramic tile quickly adds up to a taller floor that can cause stubbed toes when transitioning off carpet areas. Bottoms of doors can begin to drag the floor too. Good luck and happy scraping.
Q:Is there a low price in imported tiles?
One of the top ten brands of tiles: gold platinum Riley tiles ????Gold Platinum Rally Gambarelli Group has been committed to product development, has been three international patents: Double Face (double face), Oxygena (atmospheric purification brick), MetalStone (metal brick). These three patents represent the Gambarelli Group in product technology research and development achieved important results, its leading other brands of products in the frost resistance is also a good embodiment of high-tech technology. At the same time, the Italian Ministry of Environment has admitted that tiles containing titanium dioxide are environmentally friendly (see Official Gazette Document n 84/04) and cited the valid certificates of the Gambarelli Group as an effective standard for the industry. One of the top ten brands of imported tiles: Gardine tiles ????"Gardner" was formally established in 1961. From the beginning, "Gardner" is committed to design and development, its number of designers is all Italian factories, and even the world's largest ceramic tile factory, and "Gardner" also often employ world famous design As a theme design consultant. In terms of style, "Gardner" always adhere to the European court gorgeous and elegant design style. In terms of production, "Gardner" has always adhered to local production, never to reduce costs and set up factories overseas. It is precisely because of this insistence, "Gardner" has become the benchmark for the world tiles. One of the most proud of the Gardner honors is that Gardner is the first factory in the world to show tiles with a model, which changes the way the world displays tiles.
Q:When did the tiles begin?
Tiles as home decoration works in the very popular decorative materials, learn to appreciate the tiles, to understand the history of tile development, will determine the style of help. The birth of the tiles The use of tiles has a long history, it first appeared in the ancient Egyptian pyramid of the room, and a long time ago began to contact with the bath. In the Islamic state, the tiles are painted with flowers and plant patterns. In the medieval England, people will be different colors of geometric brick shop in the church and the monastery on the floor. The development of tiles Tiles birthplace in Europe, especially worth mentioning is Italy, Spain and Germany. In the 1970s, an exhibition entitled "New Styles of Italian Household Products" was exhibited at the American Museum of Modern Art and other places, thus establishing the cosmopolitan status of Italian home design. Italian designers to personal needs into the tile design, coupled with the details of the uncompromising attention to the home owner to provide nuanced feelings. Another representative of the tiles is the Spanish tile design, the Spanish tiles are generally color, rich texture, variety and variety are favored by the vast number of consumers. At present, domestic imports of Spanish tiles are still dominated by traditional classical types. Into the 21st century, tiles from the material, shape, color, surface processing start to the high-end development. In the field of tile technology inside, the Germans always walk in the forefront. Germany, for example, is the first and only country in the world to realize the industrial production of monochromatic vitrified tiles.
Q:We have ceramic tile on the wall in the bathroom with a few tiles of color. Hate to change whole bathroom.
With no offense to you or others who answer, the answer truly is NO, not to any satisfactory level! After installing thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and applying thousands of gallons of paint, AND UNDERSTANDING the properties of fired, glazed tile, I share this. It's essentially GLASS. Without much detail regarding color I'm going to assume you're talking about individual tiles interspersed among a base color tile. Also without knowing the substrate, there is an option. If you can match the base color tiles, and live with them, you can use a diagonal grinder to remove the surrounding grout, around the offensive color tiles, chip them out carefully, and after cleaning the substrate, install new. Certainly that can be applied to NOT matching tile pieces as well. Allow the mastik proper drying time, re-grout, and hopefully be OK with it. If that seems too easy, or difficult, you should consider other PATTERN options, since it's possible you'll damage base color tiles, OR, again, see if that base color is still available. For that you may have to go to a manufacturer, which may be difficult since many are in Europe and/or Mexico. Steven Wolf
Q:hi we have old carpet on top of tiled floor in our dining room the carpet really needs replacing but I have no idea how to fix the grippers down onto the tilesany ideas how I can do this without pulling up the tiles?
The tack strip or grippers as you cal them can be laid over the tile just as you do on a cement or slab flooring with one exception. The use or a cement tack strip and some have to be pre drilled and a longer nail or screw used to attach them to a wood sub floor if your tile is over wood subflooring and a backer board over the sub floor . My guys used to also construction adhesive glue the tack strip along with longer nails or screw. Any questions you can e mail e through my avatar. GL
Q:My husband ( yes...the one with the dents in his head from the cooker hood ) is fixing rustic tiles in my kitchen. He has done loads of tiling with plain tiles ( i.e straight edges!!) but we're wondering about spacing these with irregular edges. Very little advice on the web apart from to space them more widely which doesn't really help! Anyone done this and pleased with the result?
Boy Boy and Julie are right about these types of tile.. One thing they didn t hit on is the type of tile can make a difference on the spacing. The body type and the thickness will effect the type of grout you use and thus the spacing also..From experiance ( 20 years) I m guessing you ll need a sanded grout and a minimum of 1/8 inch spacing from the way you discribe the tile..If they have a rounded type edge keep the space to and 1/8 th inch since when you grout it flush that round edge will cause the grout joint to widen and look like 1/4 inch space..If there a square edge then you cal go to maybe 3/8 or 1/4 inch depending on the look you like and just how much outta size they are..GL any ?? e mail me
Q:I am going to lay bathroom floor tiles in my bathroom but I have some questions before I start. 1. Can I lay the new tiles over the existing floor, which is vinyl flooring? Or do I have to remove that first? 2. If I have to remove the vinyl flooring do I have to add cement backer board? Or can I lay the tile right over whatever is under the vinyl flooring? 3. I have trim along that floor that I will be re-attaching, do I lay the tile right up to the wall or do I put a space in between the wall and the edge tile? Do I then grout into that space between the wall and the edge tile?
No need. Just apply the mud and screw down the board. Allow 1 day dry and you can start laying the tile You only need at least 1/4 inch. Between tiles you can go to 1/8
Q:ok, I am grouting my ceramic tile in my kitchen and I sponged the tile when I was done and waited for everything to dry. I buffed the dry grout off of the tiles and I noticed that there is dry grout on the tiles and I can‘t get it off. Is there anything I can buy to take the grout off of the face of the tiles before I seal them? Please help.
Try using a sponge with a scrub pad on one side. It won't be easy to get off but it should do the trick. Elbow grease is the main component. They make a product that is supposed to help removed excess haze left by the grout so that might help as well. I'm hoping you used glazed tile because it's generally a good idea to seal porous tile before grouting, once the grout gets into the actual tile, it's a REAL pain to get off.
